I think college radio can be pretty killer because they get to play outside of the box, so to speak. Mitch returns. Glad to see you back.

I've not tried GuS, but I am a lover of hand crafted gourmet sodas. "Micro Brews" if you will. One that I got hooked on in Houston, and just recently have seen around town, is Boylan's. They follow the cane sugar model and they have some great flavors. The best, if you can find it, and I haven't found it in Oregon yet, is Creamy Red Birch Beer. Man could I go for a cold one right now!

You can find their Cane Cola, Black Cherry, and a few others at Market of Choice. I'll check to see if they carry GuS. Often times the websites don't have accurate listings of who carries their sodas since there is usually a middle distributor. I'll check for GuS in a few other locales I frequent.

But for sure, next time I'm in Seattle I'll pick up a bottle for you! Peace out.

Re: Tip of the Day: Select Multiple Messages in Gmail

I have no clue about these blog sites. I'm just curious. I usually weigh everything when I'm in full swing, but now I count what I can and eyeball what I can't.

I only weigh in once a week, however. I find it easier to see a change that I can recognize. Plus, I don't think I could look the scale in the eye every day!! I may start posting my weight when I weigh in next Sunday. That should be a laugh!!

Keep on keepin' on!

Re: 181.4

I can get rid of .2 of a pound by using the white porcelain bowl in my house! ;-)

I guess people who count their weight in tenths of ounces must be thinking of it in a light of tithing, or something similar. But hey, who am I to judge. I haven't been eating right for a while and I need to get out and ride my bike.

Hmmmm. Tithing your body weight? If you feel like you're having a hard day, just read around the blogosphere and see how other people are doing. Don't focus so much on the end goal - just concentrate on getting up and eating right each day. Do each day at a time and you'll get the results.

Re: 181.6: Ready, Set, Go!

This is great. I just had a wonderful snack of celery sticks. And water. I--love--it. It--make--me--feel--so--good. I can't wait until my after lunch snack of low fat yogurt. I won't be hitting 170 any time soon, but I hope to join you there this summer. Good luck.

PS- I hate celery. It is the most boring vegetable ever invented. Oh well...

Re: Deep in the Heart of Texas…

Well, you may recall that I did a short stint down in Houston. Sugar Land to be specific. I can't tell you anything to visit, but for food, I'd recommend you find a Beck's Prime. This is a wonderful burger and steak restaurant. It's almost like "fast-food" steak, but excellent. Hard to describe unless you've been to one. I also recommend the grilled vegetables in place of fries.

If you like Brazilian food, then Emporio Brazilian Cafe on 12288 Westheimer Rd. is the place to go. Get some coxinhas for starters and the "Bife a braileira" for your meal. You can't go wrong and the prices are great.

Finally, if you like donuts, then the best donuts are Shipley's. They should be everywhere and put Krispy Kremes to shame. Shipley's are still hand made, read no high pressure air machine. And when you get a donut, grab a couple of kolaches. These are sausages wrapped in bread with cheese. Awesome!! That's all, don't let me down!

Re: On Being Healthy

cc cookies... oreos! I was just working on adding video to my blog so I could start a vlog about my attempt at weight loss. I figured putting myself out there would be motivation enough to get in shape.

I figured most everything out while polishing off some cc cookies, then thought I would add your blog to my blogroll. I bumped by to see that you had added a new entry. How hilarious!! Every weekend is the same story for me, "Oh I'll just binge this last time, then Monday morning..." or my other one, "If I can kill off this package of Oreos, then it won't be there to tempt me next week!"

You are in shape!! Look at me, some 30 pounds into the overweight category and my BMI is apparently horrible. Once again you've inspired me!! Each time I would swear to renew my commitment, and each time, I would fail.

Then I dropped by your blog and it inspired me. I was impressed and thought more about what a blog could be. My original intent for mine was to make a place where my distant family members could communicate, congregate, have fun and keep in touch. It didn't work unless I pushed, so I gave in.

Of course, no one reads mine, but hey, I'm gonna keep at it! So I'm glad your not throwing the towel in, because I just got motivated. But I've used Gmail since it's debut and in my opinion, the spam filtering is the best. What's really cool, is Google Apps will host your domain email giving you the Gmail interface and all the cool stuff that goes with it.

Re: Have We Lost The Spam War?

Had that Nigerian prince been able to lower my mortgage, then I probably would have taken him up!
I was musing on the whole spam thing the other day myself, trying to determine if SpamAssassin would help or hurt. I wondered if Spam would ever "go away", but as you've said, it is a reality of communication. If anything, it has more filters than most. I can't prevent credit card offers from arriving at my house or DirectTV from calling during dinner. At least with email I can do a little traffic directing. As for IM and SMS, I think they will go through a "spam phase" as they mature into accepted forms of communication.
Keep up the blog!

Re: Happy (belated) Birthday, David!

Oh gosh.. now I’m all red in the face...... geeee.
